Week 3 of Nashville Sail Camp brought the staff another great group of campers! Our week started off with campers working together with their counselors to create a full value contract—a set of rules all of the group agreed to maintain to keep everyone’s experience safe and fun. The rest of the day was spent doing team building exercises within each sailing group, learning some sailing basics, and then heading out to the water to get sailing from the start!
Day 2 of camp started with review so the campers could keep building on their sailing knowledge, but we lucked out with the weather and spent as much time as possible out on the water. The winds were a little strong which meant for some great sailing and had all the sailing groups practicing their skills.
The campers spent Day 3 of sail camp out on the water sailing after a rainy start. When the campers got to head out there was splash ball tag, free sail, and capsize drills to keep them busy! The day ended with beautiful weather and everyone got to enjoy some swim time.
Thursday’s weather was rainy in the morning as well, but the campers still got their races in! No matter what group—Optis or Lasers—the campers were putting their new knowledge to use as they competed on a sailing course and battled with the weather for sail time. They also got to unveil their tie dye and compare designs!
Friday was a day full of fun and sailing on the J-105 for the Opti groups! The campers got to see how sailing is on a big boat and even got to take turns steering. Between the beautiful weather, lots of sail time, and a pizza celebration and awards ceremony with the parents the campers ended the week with fun, new friends, and family! Thanks to all of our campers for another great week!
