Harbor Island Yacht Club
Harbor Island Yacht Club is Nashville’s premier sailing club, with a focus on competitive racing. It is situated on scenic Old Hickory Lake (part of the Cumberland River waterway), just northeast of Nashville in Wilson County, Tennessee. HIYC was formed in 1961 by a small group of sailing enthusiasts in Nashville; and the club has grown steadily with a membership of over 200 families including full active, junior, and associate members.
Harbor Island Yacht Club has offered a Youth Sailing Camp for more than 25 years. Started, by Mandy and Willie Hofmiester, as an all-volunteer run camp called Ms Mandy’s Sailing School. Over the years, the camp has thrived, bringing thousands of children through the program and developing hundreds of instructors and counselors over the years.

Water Safety with TWRA
The Mission of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is to preserve, conserve, manage, protect, and enhance the fish and wildlife of the state and their habitats for the use, benefit, and enjoyment of the citizens of Tennessee and its visitors. They foster the safe use of our state’s waters through a program of law enforcement, education, and access. TWRA staff are an essential part of Nashville Sail Camp’s success: they teach our campers all about water safety, so they can be conscientious when taking the helm!
Thank you to TWRA for all you do for Nashville Sail Camp!
