Dinghy: Sunfish/Vanguard 15
- 1 person per boat or 2 youth

- $250 for two hours
- $100 an additional person

J22 Keelboat
- 1-3 persons
- Ages 18 & Older, or youth with an adult

Each lesson is 2 hours and includes on the boat instruction.
Taught by certified US Sailing Instructors
Private lessons are for adults, children or families.
Lessons are designed to improve your current skill level and help you achieve your goals with sailing.
Beginners, intermediate and advanced skill levels welcome. Don’t know anything about sailing? That’s OK too.
Basic lessons includes boating safety, points of sail, boat parts, rigging and basic maneuvering. Lessons can be advanced based on your current skill level.
Lessons can be arranged to be on your boat if you are looking to learn your way around your boat.
Meet Your Personal Instructor Laura Johnson
Laura Johnson is a professional Camp Director and founder of Leadership Academy in Nashville, TN. This company runs multiple camps including Nashville Sail Camp.
Laura is a member of Percy Priest Yacht Club and Harbor Island Yacht Club. She is also an active J22 and V15 fleet racer. She has been teaching children and adults to sail since 1997 and is an experienced instructor, coach and competitor.
Kim Rafferty is the Camp Director at Nashville Sail Camp since 2018. Kim grew up sailing at HIYC in Nashville and Southern YC in New Orleans. Kim is a recent graduate from University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she sailed with the UT Sailing Team. Kim is also a member of Harbor Island Yacht Club and is the current coach for HIYC Junior Sailing Team. Kim has been teaching children and adults to sail since 2011 and is an experienced instructor, coach and competitor.
Elizabeth Tompkins is an Instructor at Nashville Sail Camp since 2019. She grew up sailing at the Savannah Sailing Center in Savannah Georgia. She sailed with Richmond Hill High School sailing team in Richmond Hill, Georgia. Elizabeth attends Clayton State University in Atlanta and is studying accounting. Elizabeth is also a member of Harbor Island Yacht Club and is currently a coach for HIYC Junior Sailing Team. She is an experienced instructor and competitor.
CANCELLATION POLICY FOR PRIVATE SAILING LESSONS
If a participant cancels within one (1) week of the scheduled lesson, the participant may reschedule within the same season only. No refunds will be given within one (1) week of the lesson date. Lessons are held rain or shine, if in question about the weather, contact your instructor. The instructor or Leadership Academy reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a lesson due to weather conditions and will attempt to reschedule, if rescheduling is not an option we will refund the amount for that lesson.
